Redtenbacher’s Funkestra regularly performs at – and packs – London’s legendary 606 Club, as well as other local favorites such as The Electric Theatre (Guildford) and Jazz at Boaters (Kingston). The band has appeared at festivals and venues including the European Bass Day (Germany), Kaunas Jazz Festival (Lithuania), Manchester Bass Day, The Cooker at Ronnie Scott’s Club, ARGE Kultur (Austria), Greenwich Jazz Festival, Hampton Court Jazz Festival, Cornbury Music Festival, Reading Real Ale and Jazz Festival, Battersea Jazz Festival, Haslemere Fringe Festival, Pizza Express Live, The Hideaway, and The Watershed.
Over the years, Redtenbacher’s Funkestra has proudly welcomed illustrious guest musicians, including Fred Wesley, Alfred “Pee Wee” Ellis, “Doc” Kupka, Lee Thornburg and Lenny Pickett (from Tower of Power), Eric Krasno (Soulive), Elliott Randall (Steely Dan), Stanton Moore (Galactic), Rick Margitza (Miles Davis Group), Chris Hunter (Manhattan Jazz and Gil Evans Orchestra), Andy Snitzer (Paul Simon, Sting), and the NPG (New Power Generation) horn section of Prince, Incognito, and The Brand New Heavies.
With an eye toward mentoring and educating upcoming musicians, Redtenbacher’s Funkestra has held numerous master classes at colleges like the LCCM in London, the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, ATM Studios in Birmingham, SMTA Blueprint Studios in Manchester, British Academy of New Music in London, and the RNCM.
The band’s 11th release, “Part of Me“, feat. vocalist Helena May is going to be released in the 2nd quarter of 2018 on Stefan’s RSB Records label.
